Bloggin Rotten (Quarantine) Fanzine 2)

This is the second round up of a load of the stuff I have been sent but just had zero time to review, share etc, being someone who is working full time from home + Looking after my son, time is less available at the moment, I still want to as always help support small/Medium bands and labels, but most reviews are likely gonna be short and sweet.

Keep safe everyone and if your bored after reading this and checking out some cool bands. please go check out my label Cat’s Claw Records I have a few releases in the pipeline once normality has become our friend again, but go listen to the bands I have released and grab a tape if you want to help support the label and bands.

Brad Marino – False Alarm

[b

You gotta love ‘Brad Marino’ blend of feel good power pop with it’s garage rock edge, Single number 2 ‘What’s My Scene?‘ is catchy, well produced and make you feel 10 shots of whisky warm.

This single will be on BM’s latest ep False Alarm, out soon via Rum Bar Records

The Ramonescore Brigade Lp

Image of Ramonescore Brigade Vol.1 Lp

The Ramonescore Brigade Lp started out as an idea on Facebook where a bunch of up and coming bands along with a few veterans pooled together to fund a Lp compilation by themselves without any label help. They quickly put together a tracklist of 20 bands from all over the globe. A few labels stepped in to help out with distribution but this comp is DIY in every sense of the word. You’re gonna get exactly what you think you’re going to get with a name like “Ramonescore brigade” if you’re a fan of Ramonescore you’re going to love this comp.

Mixing up the best melodic punk, pop punk and Ramones-Core, this LP is a really awesome listen, and will introduce you to some truly killer bands that will likely stay close to your heart and make your ears dance with Joy.

Out 15/5/2020 on the following sweeeeeeet labels.

mom’s Basement Record

Catbite and Omnigone Announce Covers Split

California independent label, Bad Time Records, will be releasing a unique split 7-inch at the start of June.

The release pairs Philadelphia’s soul-ska outfit, Catbite with East Bay’s newest ska-punk trio Omnigone – featuring members of the beloved late 90’s ska-core band Link 80.

Catbite and Omnigone released their debut albums on Bad Time Records last year and quickly developed a fond appreciation of each others music.

To celebrate their new found e-friendship, both bands decided to cover one another and put their personal touch on it.

Additionally, Catbite recorded  a cover of the classic Clash tune “White Riot” while Omnigone did an updated version of Link 80’s “Nothing New.”

You can stream Catbite’s take on “White Riot” right now at The Key. “We had just learned a bunch of two-tone ska songs and a couple clash songs for a local London Calling Anniversary show. So I said, fuck it let’s record the punkest, least ska song we know right now for this. Thus White Riot.” – Tim Hildebrand (Catbite). Pre-orders for the split 7-inch are live at Bad Time Records.

Hopewood – Nowhere to be Found

‘Hopewood’ were a band from Sheffield, UK from 2004 – 2007, featuring ex and current members of Reuben, The Run Up, Mixtape Saints, Guerrilla Monsoon.

This record was the follow-up to their debut (and to date only released) 2004 EP yet was “lost’ having been mastered following the break-up of the band and ultimately never released.  It was stumbled upon when cleaning a laptop and circulated.  We’re opening up this release; it’s worthy of your time.

‘Nowhere to be Found’ is a lush tribute to early 90’s emo rock, I’m talking Saves the Day and the Get Up Kids rather than the 00’s bullshit.

Beautifully textured melodies with catchy hooks and enough feel good to bring the dead from their graves, to join the party.

It’s great these tracks have surfaced after all these years, and I feel they have stood the test of time really well, you could quite imagine this sitting really nicely along side the modern day Indie and alt Rock bands of today

Satori vs. Dr. EchoDub Defender Sessions

satori_dr_echo_cover.jpg
Steven Jess Borth II created Satori in 2005, as a side project from Rx Bandits, to showcase his own songwriting and reggae influences. The band’s debut LP, Savor Every Moment, was released on Asian Man Records and served as a very promising stepping stone for what Borth had to offer. Following the release, Borth enlisted Justin DeHart, aka Dr. Echo, as a live sound engineer to fill out the sound of the trio and reflect the growing dub direction of the project. This would eventually evolve into the more experimental project, CHLLNGR, which is a collaborative effort between Steven Jess Borth II and Justin DeHart. However, in the time between shifting focus from Satori to CHLLNGR, Steven Jess Borth II, Justin DeHart, and a cast of very talented musicians recorded a batch of songs that were lost in time. These tracks were salvaged and now make up the album titled Dub Defender Sessions.

Both originally from Sacramento, CA, Borth currently resides in Copenhagen, Denmark and DeHart in Christchurch, New Zealand. Bonded by a love for dub music and sonic exploration, Borth contributes his compositions, sax, synth and vocal performances while Dr. Echo transforms the tunes with his dub mixing. The Dub Defender Sessions album is a nod to late-70’s steppers and 80’s rockers dub style. These are session-based old-school reggae rhythms with synths and electronic augmentation. Featuring guest performances by current and ex members of Rx Bandits, Link 80, Bruce Springsteen, The Exit, Hepcat, The Toasters, Westbound Train, and The English Beat this collection of songs is dub time capsule finally getting its moment to shine.

Satori vs. Dr. EchoDub Defender Sessions will be released via Anicca Records on the 22nd of May
